The Palace Theater presents “Young Frankenstein: The Musical” as its 12th annual fall musical production the first three weekends in October.
Based on the 1974 Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder movie that sent up the 1930s black-and-white Frankenstein films, the musical has all the laughs and gags of the movie with a few new surprises and a lot of musical numbers. The show is peppered with innuendo and some not-so-subtle sexual references, but it’s all in good fun and classic Mel Brooks style.
The Palace creative braintrust of director Clay Callaway, music director Quack Moore and choreographer Lina Manning work their magic with a 27-member cast and chorus, which includes Don Moody as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, Billy Shackley as Igor, Britten Traughber as Elizabeth, Kait Wilson as Inga, Justine Thompson as Frau Blucher, Scott Wuscher as Inspector Kemp and Phill Russell as the monster.
Show dates are October 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19 at 7 p.m. with 2:30 p.m. Sunday matinees on Oct. 13 and 20. Tickets are on sale now, $15 advance and $20 day of show. The Palace box office is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday or call 934-7010 during those hours.
